The right location can make all the difference to your senior portraits and if you’re just not finding a location you love, here are a few ideas to inspire you – plus, provide you with truly unique portraits that you will want to share far and wide.
- Amusement Park. Shooting at a festival (like the Strawberry Festival) or in an amusement park gives you the chance to take advantage of all the magical colors and textures – your shoot doesn’t need to be childlike at all
to do this. If you have a fun and bold personality, an amusement park could be your ideal senior
shoot location. *Just keep in mind some amusement parks do not allow this like Disney. - Out on the Water. Do you have access to a boat? Why not use this as your backdrop? You can
either head out on the water or shoot while the boat is docked. You definitely won’t find many
other senior shoots that have a boat in the background. There is a boat dock near Apollo Beach that would make such a beautiful backdrop for nautical vibes. - At the Theatre. If you love the theatre and have access to one, this is another idea for a one-of-a-kind backdrop for your senior photos (I love Polk Theatre for this!).
- Bookstore or Library. This dreamy location is perfect for bookworms. Imagine the photos you
can take among the rows of books. Bruton Memorial Library in Plant City is gorgeous and the Lakeland Public Library is right on Lake Morton which makes for a beautiful backdrop as well. - Laundromat. For something really different and quirky, you could always use an old-school
laundromat as the setting for your senior portraits. Don’t forget to find a great retro outfit to
match. - Greenhouse. Another alternative to the traditional outdoor shoot is a greenhouse or even a
botanical garden like Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales (which is my all time favorite location ever). Not only is the setting beautiful but it might not be as busy as some other
outdoor locations. - College Campus. You’ve worked hard to get into college so why not use your new college as the
backdrop for your photos? It doesn’t even have to be the college that you’re going to. The
architecture at most institutions is truly beautiful, making it an ideal location. My favorite colleges for sessions is USF, University of Tampa, and Florida Southern College. - A Parking Garage. If you love the idea of a grungy, city vibe for your senior photos, you could
always head to a parking garage in downtown Tampa for your shoot.
Now that you have a few new location ideas, you can start discussing them with your parents! Just
don’t forget to get permission for the location that you have in mind.
